The answer is easy to respond, yes sadly but true Costa Rica has gang violence in many places around the country, specially in extreme poorness areas and many of them are connected with drug traffickers. It's kind of sad because that's the reality of many persons who hasn't finished the studies and maybe they don't want to do it but is the only solution. The government has tried to solve this kind of problems but being honest, it hasn't work at all and Costa Rica is becoming more dangerous than before.

Do we have gang violence in Costa Rica?
Yes, we do. Nowadays in Costa Rica is pretty difficult to find a really safe place where there is no violence. Sadly, as we see in the news, we face complicated situations related to this topic and gang violence is an example. It is a serious problem that affects certain or specific areas of Costa Rica, particularly in those where people don’t have the same opportunities in life as others have. For this reason, it is extremely important that government takes action on this big problem and tries to do something about it.

There is a bit of violence related to gangs in Costa Rica, every week in the newspapers and news show us, this kind information related with organised crime. Even so, you can't compare the level of organization and the damage, it does to society, these organizations with other countries in the area.

Do we have gang violence in Costa Rica?
Sadly, we do. The violence and insecurity has increased, as the poverty does. Drugs are almost everywhere, and a lot of people and even police officers knows where the gangs are, but do nothing. During the last months, many gangs had been killed by themselves, because they´re fighting for some attractive areas to sell drugs and protect their “business”. I´m really worry about this situation, and I can´t imagine how the new government will cope with it.

Yep!... Maybe not like in other countries but unlike most of the people think that no; it is a fake. You can notice it because sometimes in the news you can hear about a fight between two gangs kill some inocent person. Here in Costa Rica the gangs are related to drugs and smmugling and all because the important conection we have with the north and south of America.

Yes, we do. Every week we see in the news many crimes related to drug trafficking, organized crime and settling scores among gangs. This kind of situations most of the time happens on rural zones where young people aren't able to finish high school and gangs take advantage of their complicated situations. Some people don't really have a lot of options to survive.
To reduce violence caused by gangs Costa Rica most give better options en terms of education.

Yes, we have, in my case I have been raised in a place full of gangs and drug traffickers, and maybe in this place is even more common to see this type of conflicts because the border is place in wich you can find a lot of different nationalities. Sadly I have seen a lot of my schoolmates and friends were killed because of gangs or drugs, and it is really sad because at the end they were not bad people, they just followed the wrong path of life.
